Somewhere in most houses, in a drawer or on top of the wardrobe, a box of old home movies may be gathering dust. You haven't seen them for years because the projector is broken, but now you can have them copied onto videotape and see the children as they were years ago. Old colour films do get brittle over the years and can break when projected.

Colours will fade over the years too, until in some cases there is no colour left. Some videotape manufacturers are claiming an expected life of 50 years with reasonable care of the tape.

Standard 8 millimetre, Super 8 or 16 millimetre can all be transferred to VHS or BETA videotape or DVD from as low as $10.00 per 50 feet of movie film. It is even cheaper on the larger 7 inch reels and works out at $38 for 30 minutes of home movies.
